Sustainable Pacific Participates on Kula Community Association Sustainability Panel
The Aloha + Challenge that was recently signed by Governor Abercrombie and Hawaii’s four mayors brings many exciting possibilities to the state. “The challenge sets clear targets in six areas to reach by 2030–among them, the establishment of 70% clean energy from renewables and efficiency, as well as doubling local food production.” The Kula Community Association created a panel of experts to discuss the new challenge and how Maui residents can participate. Jennifer Chirico will serve on the panel along with Maui County’s Environmental Coordinator, Rob Parsons, Senior Advisor for Hawaii Green Growth, Audrey Newman, and the President of the Maui Farmer’s Union, Bill Greenleaf.
